Again, Mancunian Rain Spoils The Parade!

"We wuz robbed!", I can hear all Villa fans crying.

Well, in terms of how City's goals were scored I admit my distaste (as per the goals conceded at United in the last game), but it would seem that both decisions were correctly made because of how the laws stand. On the first, Mings was adjudged to have taken command of the situation by playing the ball, no matter whether the City player came from an offside position or not.

So, unfair, perhaps. But in terms of how many opportunities they had to build up a score before their eventual first, then they were worthy winners. It would really have been unfair according to the run of the play if Villa had won 2-0, which is what might have happened if a couple of Villa's own chances had gone in. City's very fortuitous goalmouth clearance in front of Ramsay just before City scored prevented Villa from opening the scoring account for certain.

We relied too much on our defence I thought. Villa overall showed some skill in midfield and in working at least a few chances, but there is something missing - a lack of care, or alertness perhaps. But that, of course, may well be due to their enforced 'holiday' from football. However, if the defenders were so alert, why were the midfielders occasionally careless in their passing?

Well, let's just call it a Manchester experience. Now let's put that one behind us and replicate that effort against Newcastle. The Manchester experience should - I hope - cause the Villans to get to work and bring the points home. Even without McGinn and perhaps Targett we should be able to do it.

Konsa, Cash and Targett for England! Stalwart players.

UTV!
